On July 12, 2025, the College of Aquaculture at Can Tho University, in collaboration with Ghent University (Belgium), successfully organized a scientific workshop with the theme "Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Shrimp Ponds in the Mekong Delta." The workshop attracted nearly 80 participants, including representatives from provincial departments, agencies, sub-departments, research institutes, universities, aquaculture enterprises, and especially a large number of shrimp farmers. This is clear evidence of society's general interest in the future of the shrimp industry.
The workshop featured presentations on greenhouse gas mitigation strategies in shrimp farming systems, bringing new scientific findings and innovative perspectives from super-intensive, shrimp-forest, and shrimp-rice farming models. Key speakers included Dr. Long Ho and MSc. Giang Tran on measurement methods for greenhouse gas emissions and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Nam Son on "Greening the Shrimp Industry: Sustainable Innovation in the Mekong Delta." This event served as an important bridge between scientists, policy makers, and the shrimp farming community, working together to create a more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly aquaculture industry for the Mekong Delta. |
