To experimentally evaluate climate-smart mitigation strategies, including optimized stocking density, improved feeding regimes, and integrated systems such as recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) combined with integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA), for their effectiveness in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving water quality at farm level.
To assess trade-offs between environmental sustainability and farm performance, by evaluating shrimp growth, survival, productivity, and economic efficiency under different mitigation and management scenarios.
To evaluate the socio-economic impacts and feasibility of mitigation strategies, with particular emphasis on farmers’ perceptions, adaptive capacity, willingness to adopt climate-smart practices, and potential livelihood implications under climate change conditions.
To synthesize environmental and socio-economic findings into practical, data-driven guidelines and recommendations that support farmers, stakeholders, and policymakers in implementing low- emission, climate-resilient shrimp farming practices in the Mekong Delta.
